The Nutrition and Food Safety (NFS) Department is addressing the burden of disease from physical, chemical and microbial hazards in food and unhealthy diets, maternal and child malnutrition, overweight and obesity. WHO Nutrition Databases  

  The Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is pleased to announce that a new PubMed® subset, ”Dietary Supplements,” is now available. It succeeds the International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database which was a collaboration between the ODS and the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Library. 'Nutrition and Food Sciences' is a specialist internet resource that gathers together research, reviews and news on nutrition and the food sciences in an easily searchable database. It covers the whole food chain from the raw ingredients to the physiological and health effects of nutrients. Key subject areas include public health, clinical nutrition, nutrition physiology, food safety, food security, consumer behaviour, food science and technology and food product groups such as functional foods. The Nutrition Society was established in 1941 ‘to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its application to the maintenance of human and animal health'. Highly regarded by the scientific community, the Society is the largest learned society for nutrition in Europe. Membership is worldwide but most members live in Europe. Membership is open to those with a genuine interest in the science of human or animal nutrition.

The International Society of Nutrigenetics/ Nutrigenomics (ISNN) was established in 2005, under the Presidency of Artemis P. Simopoulos, MD (USA).
It is the purpose of the Society to increase the understanding of the role of genetic variation and individual dietary response, and the role of nutrients in gene expression generally. This purpose is pursued through research and education of professionals and the general public.

INFOODS is the International Network of Food Data Systems. It was established in 1984. It is a worldwide network of food composition experts aiming to improve the quality, availability, reliability and use of food composition data. INFOODS also stands as a forum through which international harmonization and support for food composition activities can be achieved and advocated. INFOODS is organized into several regional data centers with a global coordinator. In this context, INFOODS and FAO provide guidelines, standards, compilation tools, databases, capacity development tools, policy advice, advocacy tools, technical assistance at country level; and they represent a fora to link agriculture, biodiversity, food systems, health and nutrition to achieve better nutrition worldwide.

These datasets provide a wealth of information at the local (household and community), national, and global levels.
